Data Center Technician I / II / III Full-Time

Overview

As a data center technician, your primary purpose will be to troubleshoot high level technical problems, while responding to customer needs. As a skilled troubleshooter on a wide range of data center environment and systems, you understand which issues to escalated to the appropriate resolver groups. You create and maintain documentation on technologies you support. Must understand all aspects of the equipment they support. Candidate should know how to innovate and make decisions on his/her own, but also know how to take direction when it is given, paying attention to all details involved. Expected to improve current processes and introduce automation with aim towards simplification.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintain servers and networks in a high demand, high availability environment
  • Assist in data center customer installations, repairs, and remote hands
  • Respond to tickets and escalations
  • Work to proactively solve underlying issues
  • Monitor products for trends and performance
  • Ensure quality services and SLAs are being met
  • Execute small projects independently
  • Understand all aspects of the equipment you support
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to understand new technologies quickly
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to lift minimum of 50 pounds
  • Ability to interface with customers including strong interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with network, server, and storage equipment
  • Physical assembly and rack mounting of server hardware
  • Servicing server hardware including part replacement and use of diagnostic tools

Desired Qualifications:

  • A+ Certification preferred
  • Prior experience in a data center atmosphere preferred
  • Systems administration (Linux and/or Windows Servers)
  • Networking (DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS/TLS, VPN)
  • Scripting (Perl, Ruby, C#, or Python)
  • Experience supporting large environments
  • HVAC, Switchgear, UPS, Battery and PDU experience a plus
  • Familiarity with electrical and/or mechanical tools and testing equipment
  • Familiarity with crypto-economics, crypto-mining and blockchain technologies
